Time Travel
Time travel is an extensively debated topic which can have real and significant effects on mankind and the way we view the world. Time travel into the future has been proved possible through Einstein's theories where an object moving close to the speed of light would age slower and therefore would essentially travel into the future. However, time travel into the past can be shown to have paradoxical effects as shown in the Grandfather paradox. One view is that whenever a backwards time travel occurs, a new reality forms. This occurs because there is a new "past" that includes the time traveler and is different from the one known to the people in the present. With this alternate reality, or tangent to reality, the grandfather paradox is solved. Does this make sense?

Einstein's theory of general relativity also alows for travel back in time. If a stable wormhole can be maintained one could travel faster than the speed of light and in essence arrive before they leave.
Yes, this is true, but the theory that backwards time travel is possible does not explain its paradoxical effects. What are your thoughts about this?
I think a problem that arises when you accept the theory about alternate realities. If there are alternate realities, then have to be alternate "presents." Let's suppose that ten years ago, you came across a fork in the road and decided to take the left path. Because you took the left path, today, ten years later, you are living your life as it is. There could then be an alternate present where a different "you" could be living a totally different life at this very second because he had decided to take the right path instead of the left. So, there are two "yous" existing right now in two alternate presents. Since the ability to travel either forwards or backwards doesn't seem like an issue here, you would think that it were possible for you (who took the left path) to travel to this alternate present to visit the other you (who took the right path). But how would you travel to a different present? Actually, is it even possible to meet this other you, supposing that he exists? It seems like you could travel back to the point in time where you had just come across the fork in the road, but it doesn't seem possible for you to see yourself take the right path. The present where you are coming from is real and has already been written by the past event of you taking the left path. There is no way for you to see your past self walking towards the right path, so alternate realities don't really make sense. Either you take the left path, or you take the right path. They could not have both happened.
